Adedotun, born into the Anglican communion, started his musical journey early in life as a young boy who joined his local church choir (St. Anne’s Anglican Church, Molete, Ibadan, Nigeria) at the age of seven. He was nurtured in the way of our Lord Jesus Christ by his late father, who was one of the children of an Anglican Priest, and his mother, who was born into an Anglican family as well.
Because of Ade’s love for music, he quickly learned music, choral directing and piano from his church choir and also from various private piano tutors such that in the year 1991, at the age of twelve, he became the youngest Organist and Choirmaster at another Anglican church in the city (St. Barnabas Anglican Church Felele Ibadan, Nigeria). Adedotun was then given a Scholarship to attend further training in Music, Choral directing and Piano with the renowned Organist and Music Teacher - Late Olaolu Omideyi FRCO. There, he was presented for various exams administered by the Musical Society of Nigeria (MUSON).
After six years of being the Organist and Choirmaster at St, Barnabas Church, he was invited to apply for an opening as the Assistant Organist at the Cathedral of St. James’ “the great” Okebola Ibadan in Nigeria. He held this position from August 1997 till June 2001 when he was confirmed as the Cathedral Organist upon retirement of his predecessor - Late Attorney Dapo Okubadejo. Because of his exceptional dedication and performance in the enhancement of Choral and Organ Music in the Diocese of Ibadan, he was appointed the Diocesan Organist for the Diocese of Ibadan by the Diocesan Bishop - Most Rev. Joseph Akinfenwa in October 2004.
Adedotun relocated to the United States of America with his family in the year 2016 and got appointed as the Organist and Music Director at All Saints Anglican Hyattsville, Maryland in November 2016. He was also appointed the Assistant Diocesan Organist and Choirmaster of the Anglican Diocese of the Trinity (ADOTT), Indianapolis, Indiana in July 2019. Adedotun trained and developed the Church Choir to the level where they could sing hymns in four parts (SATB), chant psalms and perform anthems of various levels of difficulty. He also oversaw the Music band of the church which is also embedded within the Church Choir. Adedotun held this position since November 2016 till December 31st, 2024 when he joins the St. Martin’s Lutheran Church community effective January 1st, 2025.
Ade has come with a lot of training and experience over the past three decades in choral directing, vocal training, organ music performance and worship service planning. He is a member of the Royal School of Church Musicians (RSCM) United Kingdom, where he has attended a number of trainings and seminars. He is currently a Colleague of the American Guild of Organists (CAGO). He has performed in various local and International Musical events and worship services. He attended a Choir pilgrimage to Salisbury Cathedral United Kingdom with the Choir at St. Andrew’s Episcopal, College Park, Maryland as the guest Organist in the summer of 2023, where he played all the daily evensong services on the four manual Pipe Organ at the Cathedral.
Adedotun’s love for the service of God will help and enhance the Music Ministry at St. Martin’s Lutheran Church Annapolis well into the future. He is fully committed to glorifying God and building up the body of Christ with the talent and knowledge he has deposited in him.
Adedotun has a B.Sc. In Civil Engineering from the University of Ibadan Nigeria and a MBA from the Obafemi Awolowo Univeristy Ile Ife Nigeria. He is currently a Transportation Design Engineer with the State Highway Administration, Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT SHA).
Adedotun is happily married and their marriage is blessed with three beautiful children.
